John Zappia claimed an unprecedented tenth ANDRA Top Doorslammer Series title with his Fuchs Holden Monaro on Sunday at Perth Motorplex's Westernationals, adding to his record of dominance in one of Australian drag racing's most competitive categories - and winning the Westernationals on his home turf was an added bonus.

John Zappia might have emerged as the winner of the Goldenstates at Perth Motorplex several weeks ago but it came at a cost with bent rods on two separate runs and a close challenge from Scott MacLean.

John Zappia is continuing his charge towards a tenth ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship on the back of a challenging but rewarding Goldenstates at Perth Motorplex.

The Zappia Racing crew traveled to Adelaide last week and attended the ANDRA Championship Dinner before Round 3, and Zap was presented with his Top Doorslammer Championship Gold Christmas Tree for 2015/2016 – his ninth back-to-back championship.

The Perth Motorplex hosted the first round of the new Summer Slam series for the growing number of Western Australian Top Doorslammer teams in Perth, and the WA Drag Racing Championship event this weekend saw eight teams compete for the coveted title.

The second leg of the “Northern Swing” was held last weekend at the Alice Springs Desert Nationals held by the Central Australian Drag Racing Association, where Round 2 of the ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship was run over the eighth mile.

John Zappia has clean-swept the Top Doorslammer category at Alice Spring Inland Dragway’s Desert Nationals this weekend - top qualifying and taking the event victory this afternoon (Sunday 17 July) whilst also resetting the track speed (193.97mph) and elapsed time (3.966s) eighth-mile distance records in the process.

On the first leg of the “Northern Swing” through remote Northern Territory in outback Australia, Champion John Zappia had a semi final finish in the opening round of the ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship held at Hidden Valley Drag Strip in Darwin.

Zappia Racing heads off to Adelaide this week to contest the final round of the 2015/2016 ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship on 9-10th April at Adelaide International Raceway – ahead in points enough that only qualifying is needed to wrap up nine consecutive championships.

The Home Group WA 45th Westernationals were run this weekend at the Perth Motorplex under the IHRA sanctioned 400 Thunder Australian Professional Drag Racing Series and John Zappia stamped his authority in the Pro Slammer class by re-setting the Australian National Record at 5.683, getting to the final, and maintaining his lead in the series.

Australian Top Doorslammer Champion John Zappia is on his way to the Australian Nationals at Calder Park this weekend to take on seven other Top Doorslammer teams, and has his eye on the prize. The event is round four of the ANDRA 2015/2016 Championship and the first time the Nationals has been run at Calder in fifteen years.

Perfection often ends with an exclamation mark. And for newly christened eight-time ANDRA Top Doorslammer champion John Zappia, the final run of a perfect season was a record-setting affair.

Seven times back-to-back Australian ANDRA Top Doorslammer Champion John Zappia won the 44th Westernationals held at the Perth Motorplex this weekend and increased his lead in the short 2015 season to 85 points.
